The Mule has two purposes; to refill your ammo like those drop crates from GRAW, and to also take enemy sniper fire and deal back just as much. Think of the Mule as a decoy. Send it out to a certain location to draw the fire of the enemies while you sneak up or gain better ground and quickly remove the threat. The Mule can take a lot of punishment, and in all the times I played through the demo not once did it get destroyed (but it did smoke a lot). For offensive maneuvers the Mule has a single mounted machine gun. It’s deadly at short range but gets increasingly less effective the further away the Mule is from a target. Thankfully, gamers can indicate which enemy they want the Mule to go after by simply putting their targeting reticule over an enemy. A status bar shows how long it will take before the Mule acquires the target. This is usually little over a second.
The demo as a whole seemed to be showing off a lot of what GRAW 2 is about, one of them being much more dangerous fire fights with the enemy soldiers. While playing through the demo I not only had to deal with an enemy encampment, but also a multitude of snipers, mortar fire (which sounds amazing in 5.1) and two enemy helicopters. Total play time was on the short side and ultimately the demo was underwhelming. The new features were cool, but nothing we haven’t already done to a degree in GRAW. Hopefully, GRAW 2 has some tricks up their sleeves or else this may just be another typical sequel. Anyone else beginning to think EA is rubbing off on Ubisoft?
