Project Gotham Racing 3
Xbox Core: How far is PGR3 in the development process and will it be ready for the launch of the Xbox 360?
Bizarre Creations: We've been in development for about 18 months now, including the early design phases. Microsoft hasn't confirmed what is going to be in the launch line up yet, but we're sure that you'll be happy with what you see when it does ship.
XC: How many and what type of cars will we see in PGR3?
BC: PGR3 is all about supercars – taking the world's most desirable street cars and letting them loose on race tracks created within the cities. And even within this category, there's still a lot of variety of speeds, accelerations, handling and performances for you play around with. We're hoping to have modelled 80 cars from a whole variety of manufacturers for you to experience :-)
XC: How many and what tracks/cities will we see in PGR3?
BC: We haven't announced anything other than New York and Tokyo , but you can be sure that we're sticking to the roots of the Gotham heritage in our choices. As for tracks, there's at least as many pre-defined tracks as in PGR2…
XC: In PGR2 gamers could only change the color of their car. How will players be able to customize their cars in PGR3?
BC: As always, the PGR series is about racing, rather than customisation. We want the focus of the game to be you, your progress and your Kudos rather than what material you're using in your suspension springs. So as gameplay is our key feature, PGR3's customisation comes in the gameplay – but as to what that's all about, you'll have to wait and see!
XC: Will player stats and specific race details be available online? Much like what Bungie has done with Halo 2?
BC: The whole online community is covered by Gotham TV, and I'll explain more about that below! :-)
XC: What exactly is GothamTV and how will it work?
BC: PGR3 is a revolutionary way of bringing the whole online and offline side of the game together in a televised sport. It's a step forward in all areas of gaming, from gameplay to graphics, from audio to atmosphere. Tune into Gotham TV for PGR3 news, special features, and updates from around the world, direct to your living room!
A sports-style news ticker runs along on the bottom of most screens in PGR3, keeping you updated on what's happening in the Gotham community. If somebody breaks a world record you'll hear about it. If one of your friends does something cool, you'll get told about it. When PGR3 champions are going head-to-head, you'll be told – all as you play! If you want to see the action, just click and watch, then when it's over, simply come back to your game!
But it goes further than that. It's time to prove yourself to the world! Imagine you're racing with some friends and Gotham TV tunes into you – you get told you're live to the world! You'll feel the pressure even more than before, as you'll be told how many people are watching you race! And if you've done something impressive in your single player game, Gotham TV will show it to the world!
There's a host of different racing channels – this is pure channel surfing for gamers! Tune in to view superstars racing live with other Gotham fans on the Gotham Heroes channel. See how your friends are doing on their channel. Watch records being broken. Watch replays of the best laps and learn from them. Or simply keep an eye on the ticker as you play your own game, to see if there's something you want to hop over to Gotham TV and watch.
It's a real sport, broadcast to you right there on your Xbox 360!
XC: How excited is Bizarre to be working with the Xbox 360?
BC: Hey, we're developers! We've been given a powerful machine with loads of memory and cool features to play with! Of course we're excited! :-)
XC: Does Bizarre have any plans for other Xbox 360 titles?
BC: We always have something cool cooking at Bizarre for the future, but we'll have to talk again in the future when we can give you the full story! :-) Stay tuned…
