Geltabz Review

When you have used the Xbox 360 controller for some time, you know that it is one of the best designed gaming controllers ever. Sure it's not extremely futuristic looking or includes lots of high-tech sensors, but it is a perfect handheld device. It's not too big, it's not too small, and everything seems in reach with minimal effort. It is hard to imagine any sort of improvement that should be done with the controller, because there are really no flaws.

A recently released product however improves on the two thumsticks, by offering an add-on to them. The Geltabz are like little green cushions that fit around the top of the analog sticks and offer more comfort and more grip while playing games.

The design of these things are similar to those little plastic toys that you can turn inside out, place on a desk, and then watch it pop into the air a few seconds later. These don't do anything exciting like that, but they seem to be made of a very similar material and you have to almost turn them inside out to fit them over the stick face. This type of stretchy plastic allows it to stay attached to the analog stick without sliding even the slightest bit and also works a little like a suction cup. Because they are designed this way, they will fit 99% of the third party controllers out there perfectly.

The top portion of the Geltabz contain a layer of clear plastic that acts as a cushion for your finger. Just like the analog stick, the surface is like a bowl so your finger fits inside easily without sliding out. Also on this top layer are sixteen raised dots that help grip your finger to the plastic, whereas the normal 360 controller only has four little dots.

The visual design of the Geltabz are also well done. The Xbox 360 Geltabz are light green with a silver top and the Z logo in the center. The Xbox Geltabz are a darker green with a very similar silver top and logo. The only problem here is that they slightly offset the style of the controller and colors of the analog stick, but they still look great.

For only $4.99 for a set of two, you can't go wrong. These aren't something that you absolutely have to run out and get, because the analog sticks on Xbox controllers are just fine. However, getting a set of Geltabz is like buying a new pillow, once you start using them, you won't want to go back to the old ones!

Stop by any GameStop nationwide or to purchase.

Final Rating: 9 out of 10.
